Self Hosted Private Cloud
I was unhappy with what cloud storage costs for the amount of space you actually get, I wanted a lot more of it, and I wanted off third party services anyway, so I built my own. It handles file sync and sharing, shared calendars and contacts, document editing in the browser, email, and monitoring over the lot of it, with as much storage as I feel like putting in the machine.
Security came first rather than last, and it is kept on safe versions of security patches instead of quietly going out of date.
Mainly though it was an interesting passion project, one that was genuinely fun and rewarding to build and has come in handy plenty of times since. I would rather not publish how it is put together, so if you want to know how I did it, get in touch.
